"Be sure you do not use pressure treated wood.  Here in the east, cedar is more or less the only choice for food-safe a long lasting wood for direct soil contact."

Food Gardening for the Fall and Winter Seasons in Mecklenburg County

Central Piedmont Community College and its Corporate and Continuing Education Department will be offering two, hands-on gardening classes this fall.  The classes will focus on sustainable food growing and gardening of fall and winter season crops.

Fee:  $95 for the six, two hour sessions 

Enjoy this fun, lively, outdoor class on how to grow your own bountiful home food garden in the Charlotte region in an environmentally friendly way, without dangerous chemicals. Gardening Classes Offered Spring 2011 at Central Piedmont Community College

Want to grow your own food garden in Charlotte this year?  Good news!  CPCC has the class for you, Food Gardening for the Spring Season (GDN 8051-01 & 02).

 

These classes offer a fun, outdoors, hands-on introduction to food gardening in the Piedmont, from preparing the soil and composting to harvesting your own fresh vegetables. Classes meet once a week for six weeks. Sessions are offered on either a Tuesday or Thursday evening.
